Our Story
Just Like A Woman was founded by Fern Carness and Margy Imlay to address the mastectomy, lingerie and compression needs of women throughout the greater Portland area.
From the beginning, the goal was to provide something that can be difficult to find in a conventional retail setting: specialized products combined with knowledgeable, personal fitting assistance.
Over the years, Just Like A Woman expanded its expertise in medical specialty products, foundation garments, post-mastectomy care and compression fitting while remaining focused on the individual experience of every customer.
Remembering Our Founder, Margy Imlay
December 3, 1958 – October 8, 2024
Margy Imlay helped shape Just Like A Woman into the resource it is today. A health educator with more than 30 years of experience, Margy was a BOC and ABC certified fitter, a certified cancer exercise specialist and a member of the BOC Board of Directors.
Her commitment to education, compassionate care and professional fitting continues to influence how we serve our customers today.
Margy is deeply missed by the Just Like A Woman community and by the many people whose lives she touched.
